Mothers’ Union & 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence

Mothers Union

The Mothers’ Union is shining a light on violence against women and girls, with the clear message that it is not OK. We are calling on communities around the world to understand the many different forms of abuse that gender-based violence takes, from controlling behaviour by a partner to rape as a weapon of war.

Members of the Mothers’ Union in Guildford diocese will be meeting in the Lady Chapel at Guildford Cathedral at midday on November 25th to join in prayer with many others around the world.

Please come and join us if you are able or at least take time out from your day for a moment of quiet prayer wherever you are.

Everyone is invited to light a candle and pray:

Loving Lord,

We light this candle to remember all who are affected by gender-based violence,

and as a symbol of hope as we pray for a world which is free from all forms of violence and abuse.

Amen

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.  John 1:5
