Baby Loss Awareness Week aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby death in the UK.
Throughout the week bereaved parents, their families and friends, unite with each other and others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy.
During this week St Mary’s Church will be open throughout the day for prayer and reflection. It is open to everyone who has been affected by baby loss; parents grandparents, siblings, friends as well as health professionals. Wehave a memory tree where you are invited to place a ribbon or name tag in memory of your baby.
At the end of the week, Friday 15th October, you may like to take part in the annual International Wave of Light. This is when people around the world light a candle or candles at 7.00 pm local time in memory of the baby or babies they have lost. Photos of these candles on social media create a wave of light that spreads across the globe. You can join this virtual wave of light by adding to you social media profiles, your photo on the night, with the tag #WaveofLight.
