Vicars’ Blog October 2017 – Discerning Direction and Vision Process

This month we have a FREE temporary replacement for the church magazine, Radius, while there is no editor.  In this booklet, you will find pointers for daily prayer as well as details of services and events this month.  We apologise to those who have paid their annual subscription to Radius and we are willing to refund you.

Down the street, we can see the lovely colours of the leaves as the trees prepare for the next season.  In Autumn, we particularly think of God’s good gifts to us and take the opportunity to bless others less fortunate than ourselves. Harvest is Sunday 8th October and the Foodbank would appreciate our donations.  Get your tickets for the Mission Supper on Sat 7th October with special guests from the missionary organisations we support through the church mission giving.

Discerning Direction and Vision Process

Stage 1 is complete.  Thank you to all those who helped to put together the Our Story display from the questionnaire responses.  It turns out we are a motley crew with some great memories of people and events of the past and of the present too.  We have a varied list of things we celebrate about our church and are thankful to God for.  There are booklets available with a summary of Our Story.  Now we begin Stage 2 of the process which asks Where is God leading?

Stage 2 of the process asks Where is God leading?  What sort of church does God want us to be?  And prayer is vital to this.

In our sermons, we have been reminded of who we are – God’s children who have been chosen and forgiven by God; and of our purpose as Christians and as a church, to bring glory to God and make Jesus known around us.  As we look ahead, we must all pray and ask, “What is God saying to our church at this time?”  Please prayerfully consider this and fill in a questionnaire available in both churches during October.  Thank you for this journey of faith together as children of God.
