08 Oct Baby Loss Awareness Week 2024
Baby Loss Awareness Week aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby death in the UK. Throughout the week bereaved parents, their families and friends, unite with each other and others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy. Baby Loss Awareness Week is also a collaboration between charities and organisations working together for change and tangible improvements in policy, research, bereavement care and support available for anyone affected by the death of a baby at any stage.
St Mary’s Church will be open throughout the week, during the day for prayer and reflection. Take as long as you need to pause and remember. We will have a prayer tree where you can leave the names of those children you would like to be remembered.
If you have been affected by baby loss in any way; parents, grandparents, siblings, friends as well as health professionals – you are welcome.
The week will end on Tuesday 15th October with a ‘Wave of Light’. We are all invited to light a candle in memory of those we have loved and lost, displaying it in our windows.
