A landmark of town life

For generations, St Mary’s has stood at the heart of our town. A landmark of town life, the church flagpole, must be replaced as it’s unsafe.

Help Us Raise the Flag Again!

For generations, St Mary’s Church has stood at the heart of our town. Many of us hold precious memories within its walls – baptisms, weddings, Christmas services, carol singing, school visits and funerals of loved ones.

It’s a place where our stories meet, a building that belongs to us all.

One much-loved feature of our church is the flagpole. Whether for Remembrance, Anzac Day, national events or church celebrations, the sight of the flag flying high over Walton has always been a source of pride and belonging for the whole community.

Sadly, the flagpole has become unsafe and must be removed. Removing it alone will cost around £3,000 – but we don’t want to stop there. We would love to see a new flagpole in place, ready to fly again for future generations.

The total cost of removal and replacement is £10,000. Thanks to a generous donation we are already well on our way, but we still need to raise more. Should we find ourselves in the position of raising more than we need we’ll put the money towards further building repairs which we know need doing in the not too distant future.

This is where you can help. Every gift, large or small, will bring us closer to seeing the flag flying again over our church – a symbol of celebration, remembrance and unity in our community.

If this church has been part of your story, or if you simply want to help preserve an important part of our town’s heritage, please consider donating.

Together, we can raise the flag again!

Thank you for your generosity and for being part of the story.
