Message from the Vicars – 19.03.2020

UPDATED 19 March 2020

At this time, with the impact of Covid-19 developing all the time, we encourage everyone to Be Aware, Be Wise, Be Kind.

Message from the Vicars:

In these difficult times, we want you to know that Jonny, Cathy and our team are praying for all of you, mindful of those who are choosing to self-isolate. We are especially praying for all those in key roles who are keeping our health service and food production going and those for whom uncertainty and loss of employment gives particular concerns.

During this extraordinary time, as your vicars, there are also new opportunities. We are in the midst of transforming as a church from the church which gathers to the church in the community. We will send out an email daily with any important information and with spiritual food to nourish your soul.

We have teams working hard to provide pastoral and practical help for people, if you are able to volunteer you can. We would also like to hear from you if you are self isolating so we can keep in touch. Sign up forms can be found here.

New ways present themselves at the moment to live out our Vison Bible verse from Matthew 22: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbour as yourself.” This message from Bishop Andrew picks up these very themes. Read it here.

We also commend to you the message of encouragement from the Archbishop of York calling for a day of prayer on Sunday 22nd March, Mothering  Sunday. It would be lovely if we all join in with this in our own way.

Many blessings,
Cathy and Jonny
